
Anorexia Nervosa
Many people worry about gaining too much weight. But in some people the worry becomes obsessive, resulting in a condition called anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that can result in severe weight loss. A person with anorexia is preoccupied with calorie intake and weight.People with anorexia nervosa eat an extremely low calorie diet and have an excessive fear of gaining weight. They often feel better about themselves when they lose weight. They may also exercise excessively. Anorexia is most commonly diagnosed in adolescent women, but it’s been diagnosed in older and younger women and in men.
Anorexia Nervosa Symptoms
1. To Belch : When someone has a problem of anorexia, they start to feel bitter without any food and drink, stomach feels full and mouth gets filled with water.
2. Tired : Weakness in hair and nails, yellowing of the skin, swelling of joints, tooth deterioration, thin hair on the body, etc. are due to anorexia.
3. Emotional State : Imbalances in some hormones, such as serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, cortisol and leptin, can explain some of these characteristics in those with anorexia. Since these hormones regulate mood, appetite, motivation and behavior, abnormal levels could lead to mood swings, irregular appetite, impulsive behavior, anxiety and depression.
4. Menstrual irregularities : Amenorrhea, irregular periods or only having a period while on hormonal contraceptives (this is not considered a “true” period)
5. Body Weight : Has disturbed experience of body weight or shape, undue influence of weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of low body weight.
